Painted Canyon is a dynamic and versatile band known for blending Americana influences with alternative country and indie rock. The band’s name, inspired by the Painted Canyon of North Dakota, reflects their music’s rich and expansive sound. Their songs often explore themes of wanderlust, introspection, and the beauty of the natural world.
Formed in the summer of 2019, Painted Canyon features four talented members, each with roots from different parts of the U.S.: Evan Burns - MN (lead singer and guitarist), Dan Powell - IL (drummer and harmony vocals), Eric Gannon - NJ (bass and backing vocals), and Adi Kanlic - TX (guitarist, keys, and backing vocals). Drawing inspiration from legendary acts like Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Tom Petty, Jason Isbell, and Kings of Leon, the band has crafted a sound that is both timeless and contemporary, weaving together the best elements of rock, indie, and Americana.
Their debut album, Permanent Reflection, and several other released singles were recorded and produced with the expertise of Mike Hagler at Kingsize Sound Labs in Chicago. Mike’s fingerprints are all over recordings from Wilco, Billy Bragg/Wilco, Neko Case, Waco Brothers, Maps & Atlases, My Morning Jacket, and many others.. The album was praised for its atmospheric production and the way it captures the essence of open spaces and emotional journeys. Known for their energetic live performances, Painted Canyon has a reputation for creating a captivating concert experience that transports audiences into the heart of their musical landscapes.
